The London Organising Committee for the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) has appointed Deloitte as the professional services supporter for London 2012. The deal is the first 'Tier Two' sponsorship to be signed and will give Deloitte the designation of official professional services supporter of London 2012, with rights to use the London 2012 marks, and rights to Team GB and Paralympics GB. As a Tier Two supporter, Deloitte can begin activating its relationship from January 2009. Deloitte becomes the exclusive provider of professional advisory services to LOCOG, including tax, human capital, management consulting, and financial support through secondments and advisory work. LOCOG Chief Executive Paul Deighton commented, “I'm thrilled to welcome Deloitte to the Olympic family. This is an exciting and innovative deal, with Deloitte supporting us not only with cash, which is essential as we raise the £2 billion of private finance we need to host and stage the Games in 2012, but will also provide us with expert people.” He added that the organisation will grow very quickly, to 2,500 people at Games time. John Connolly, Deloitte Senior Partner and Chief Executive commented, "This is a fabulous opportunity for everyone in our firm, and a great platform for the Deloitte brand. Over the course of the next five years, many of our people will have a once in a lifetime opportunity to transform London and the UK, and we are proud to be playing our part." London 2012 currently has three Tier One partners - Lloyds TSB, the official Banking and Insurance partner, EDF Energy, the official Utility Services partner, and Adidas, the official sportswear provider. The Worldwide Olympic Partners already signed up for 2012 are Coca-Cola, Atos Origin, GE, McDonalds, Omega, Panasonic, Samsung and Visa. Related links |
