Datatec Limited has announced that Leslie Boyd, the group’s chairman, has died suddenly after a short illness.
Stephen Davidson, who was deputy chairman, will succeed to the role of chairman. Boyd had indicated his intention to retire from the board after the group’s AGM in August at which time the board had intended to appoint Davidson as chairman. Boyd became chairman on 6 December 2001 and played a significant role in transforming the board, establishing its independent committees, promoting best practice corporate governance and rigorous and transparent accountability at all levels of the organisation. Davidson joined the board on 1 February 2007 and has since served as deputy chairman. He is also chairman of SPG Media Group PLC, Enteraction TV Limited and Digital Marketing Group plc and a non-executive director of Inmarsat plc and EBT Mobile China plc. Davidson has held various positions in investment banking, most recently at WestLB Panmure where he was global head of media and telecoms, investment banking, then vice chairman of investment banking. Jens Montanana, chief executive of Datatec (LSE: DTC), said, “Having turned seventy last year Leslie was due to retire in August this year and his sudden death is a great sadness to the board and everyone at Datatec. On behalf of the board and management across Datatec I send our sincerest condolences to Leslie’s family.” Related articles Related links |
