Equifax man to lead ACCIS |

Neil Munroe, External Affairs Director at Equifax (NYSE:EFX), has been appointed President of the Association of Consumer Credit Information Suppliers (ACCIS). The ACCIS is the trade body that represents the interests of European consumer credit bureaux and associates from around the world. The two-year appointment became effective from 12th June 2009. Established in 1990, ACCIS aims to bring together and represent the common interests of over 35 consumer credit reference agencies in 25 European countries, and 5 associate members from other continents. It liaises with and lobbies European government agencies to help foster a legal climate in which its members can continue and develop their services as well as monitoring regulatory and other external affairs that could influence the credit reporting industry. With over 20 years experience in the credit referencing industry and having played an instrumental role in the development of the Equifax brand in the consumer credit marketplace, Neil is looking forward to applying his knowledge to this new position alongside his Equifax responsibilities. “I am honoured and delighted to be appointed President of ACCIS. Although each market is unique and requires specialist expertise and a local approach, there are many common issues that effect credit reference agencies on a pan-European and global basis. “In particular, I am looking forward to widening the remit of the Association, reflecting changing market dynamics. Members right across the European continent are experiencing a number of challenges as the global recession puts greater focus on the role of credit information. I, therefore, believe that there is an opportunity for ACCIS to help its members engender greater transparency and trust in credit information through financial education aimed at both the users of credit information, and the consumers affected by the decisions credit information supports. I look forward to tackling these challenges in partnership with other members of ACCIS.” |
