KPMG Forensic has recruited Stephen Gallagher as a partner in its fast growing forensic technology team, which specialises in the analysis of structured and unstructured data.
Gallagher joins KPMG from Accenture where he led the European business intelligence practice. He was previously at IBM Global Services, where he led the UK business intelligence practice, and was also at KPMG Consulting earlier in his career, where he helped to build their business intelligence practice. Gallagher said that the use of analytical technologies and processes can often be the key to unearthing vital information in a forensic investigation. “Similarly there has been a dramatic increase in the importance of analytics to addressing many business issues and it has become more central to many companies’ overall business strategies,” he added. As fraud has continued to be a major issue in both the private and public sectors in recent years, so the forensic practice at KPMG has been one of the firm’s fastest growing divisions. Forensic revenues have expanded from £30m in 2005 to £53m in 2007. The growing importance of forensic technology has been instrumental in this, with revenues up by 60 per cent in 2007. Adam Bates, global chairman of KPMG Forensic, said, “Forensic technology is one of the key pillars in the fight against fraud, and analytical technologies and processes are integral to that.” Related articles
