Dave McCarthy has joined the board of Britannia Building Society - the UK's second biggest mutual - as group finance director.
McCarthy, 43, has been covering the role since March 2008 when Phil Lee moved to become managing director of the Britannia Capital Investment Group. He joined Britannia in 2007 as head of group finance. A chartered accountant and corporate treasurer, McCarthy was previously finance director of Bank of Ireland UK. He spent 16 years in various roles with Bank of Ireland and Bristol & West, having begun his career as an auditor with Touche Ross. Britannia chairman Rodney Baker-Bates said, "Dave McCarthy has shown innovative strategic thinking and strong leadership during the recent credit crunch. He shares the organisation's values and will be a strong addition to the executive team." Britannia Building Society (LSE:BBG) has 2.9 million members, assets of £37 billion, 4,700 employees and 254 branches across the UK. Related links |
