Danish telecoms firm TDC A/S has appointed Jesper Ovesen as chief financial officer and member of the executive committee as from 1 January 2008.

TDC (LSE:TDC), also known as Torday & Carlisle, is the leading provider of communications solutions in Denmark and a strong player in the Nordic business market. It has developed from a traditional provider of landline and mobile services into a provider of modern communications solutions.

Ovesen, 50, is a certified public accountant and holds a Master of Finance from Copenhagen University. He has been chief executive officer in KIRKBI A/S since 1 January 2007, the investment company of the Kirk family who founded LEGO.

Prior to this, he was chief financial officer of the LEGO Group from 2003 to 2006 and together with LEGO's Chief Executive Officer Jørgen Vig Knudstorp Jesper Ovesen was one of the main powers behind the successful turn-around of the company. He has earlier been chief financial officer in Danske Bank and Novo Nordisk as well as managing director of Baltica Bank.

Ovesen is a member of the board of directors of among others Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken AB, FLSmidth & Co A/S, Merlin Entertainments S.a. r. l. and MODULEX A/S.

"Jesper has a fantastic profile and I am deeply impressed by the results he has achieved for LEGO. In my opinion we will have one of Denmark's absolute best professionals in finance in a key position on the TDC team, with which I am very pleased", says chief executive officer and president of TDC, Jens Alder.

Jesper Ovesen will take over the position as chief financial officer and member of TDC's executive committee after Hans Munk Nielsen who informed in October that after 16 years as chief financial officer in TDC he had decided to retire from his position.
