She will be responsible for managing a budget of around £39 million plus overseeing finances during the final stages of the new £41.7million prison being built at Jurby.

Mrs. Primrose said: "I was excited by the Department’s core aim to improve the quality of life for the Island’s community and that prompted me to apply for the post. This is a very interesting time to get involved with Government finances and I am looking forward to the challenges ahead."

Welcoming her to the senior management team at the Department, the Isle of Man's Home Affairs Minister Martyn Quayle MHK said: "I’m very much looking forward to working with Paula, who I feel sure will make a most valuable contribution to the small but dedicated team within the Chief Executive’s Office of the Department. There will be many challenges ahead, for both Paula and the Department, in relation to managing Government finances but the experience and knowledge that Paula is bringing can only assist in the Department moving forward."

A qualified CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants) accountant, Paula gained her degree in accounting and finance at Manchester Polytechnic, before working for manufacturing companies in the North West of England for several years. For the past four years she has undertaken contract work, specialising in implementing new financial systems at large companies in the UK and Europe, and for much of the last year for an Isle of Man-based company.
