NS&I National Savings and Investments (NS&I) has announced the appointment of Gillian McGrattan as their People and Environment Director, with effect from 1 September 2008.

Gillian joins NS&I after five years as the National Director of HR Development at Grant Thornton UK LLP. She also has substantial experience in financial services having worked in various roles at the NatWest Group and also for two high profile City banks.

Responsible for implementing the people, organisational learning and internal communications agendas, Gillian will shape and drive organisational change at NS&I.

She joins at a time when NS&I is embarking on year 2 of its challenging 5 year strategy to diversify and modernise the business. Gillian will also be a member of the Board and the executive management team, responsible for delivering NS&I’s business strategy.

On her appointment, Gillian said: “I am excited to be joining NS&I on the back of its strong financial performance in 2007/08. The organisation has seen exceptional growth levels that indicate that its people and processes, both at NS&I and across its partnership with Siemens IT Solutions and Services, are operating effectively, and I am motivated to increase and improve on this success.”

Jane Platt, NS&I chief executive, added “We are delighted that Gillian has chosen to join us. Her skills complement the vision we have to drive our business into the next stage of our strategic plan, and attracting and retaining the best people is an important part of that. Gillian has a strong track record in delivering organisational change and is a valuable addition to our team.”

The post has been covered by an Interim People and Environment Director, since January 2008.
