London Stock Exchange Group plc has appointed Doug Webb as its new Chief Financial Officer.

He will remain with QinetiQ until the company's preliminary results on May 28 and is expected to join the LSE board as an executive director shortly after.

Webb is currently chief financial officer at the global defence and security firm QinetiQ Group plc (LSE:QQ) and one of its two executive directors.  He spent five years at the firm and played a key role in QinetiQ’s successful IPO two years ago.

His experience spans 25 years and includes a number of senior finance and operational roles. Webb spent eight years working for Logica, now LogicaCMG (LSE:LOG), latterly as regional finance director for Continental Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

His time at Logica also included six years in its US subsidiary holding various roles including chief financial officer, executive vice president Telecoms Division and chief operating officer. He also spent 12 years with Price Waterhouse (now PricewaterhouseCoopers).

Chris Gibson-Smith, chairman of London Stock Exchange Group, was delighted that Webb had agreed to take up the position of chief financial officer at the enlarged London Stock Exchange Group.

“We believe that Doug will be a real asset to the Group, ensuring that it continues its record of financial leadership as it pursues its vision to be the world’s capital market,” he added.

Webb replaces Jonathan Howell, who surprised the City by swapping the London Stock Exchange for investment bank Close Brothers (LSE:CBG).
