Paul Stockton has agreed to join the board of Rathbone Brothers Plc as finance director.

Rathbones expects that he will join the board in the late summer.

Stockton will replace Sue Desborough, who died of cancer in November 2007.

Stockton, 42, qualified as a chartered accountant with PricewaterhouseCoopers. In 1999 he joined Old Mutual Plc as group financial controller, becoming director of finance in 2001 and finance director of Gerrard Limited eight months later.

Following the sale of Gerrard to Barclays in 2003, Stockton left in 2005 and has since worked for Euroclear in Brussels and is currently finance director of the Life Division (South) of the Pearl Group.

Rathbone Brothers Plc (LSE:RAT) specialises in providing, through its subsidiaries, high quality, personalised investment management and wealth management services for private investors and trustees, including discretionary fund management, unit trusts, tax planning, trust and company management, pension and banking services.

It manages £12.4 billion of funds, including £1.7 billion managed by Rathbone Unit Trust Management Limited.
