Union calls off strike on One Railway Print E-mail
Thursday, 13 September 2007
The industrial action proposed for Saturday 15 September and Monday 17 September has been called off. 'One' Railway's dispute with the RMT has been resolved.

A full normal train service will therefore operate on both days and passengers can expect to make their journeys without disruption.

The announcement by 'One' Railway will come as good news to commuters in and out of London's Liverpool St station. Industrial action by 800 members of the Rail, Maritime and Transport (RMT) union on 'One' Railway lines was expected to disrupt services on Saturday 15 and Monday 17 September.

The 'One' franchise is owned by National Express Group and operates trains providing services to London Liverpool Street and the East of England. 'One' brings together the train services previously provided by Anglia Railways, First Great Eastern, the West Anglia part of the WAGN operation and Stansted Express.

The planned industrial action was in support of a guard sacked following an incident with a violent and abusive fare evader, and against the company’s alleged neglect of staff safety.

'One' operates connections to Shenfield, Chelmsford, Braintree, Colchester, Clacton, Walton-on-Naze, Harwich, Ipswich, Lowestoft, Peterborough, Norwich, Ilford, Romford, Upminster, Gidea Park, Brentwood, Shenfield, Billericay, Wickford, Southminster, Southend Victoria, Cambridge, Chingford, Enfield Town, Hertford East, Tottenham Hale and Stansted Airport.

In addition, 'One' runs local services starting and finishing in Norwich and Ipswich including all stations to Great Yarmouth, Lowestoft, Sheringham, Felixstowe, Cambridge and Peterborough and services to Harwich International and the Sudbury branch from Marks Tey.
