Acertec Plc is listed on AIM and is one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of engineered steel products for use in the automotive and construction markets. Turnover for the year ended December 2006 was £307m with operating profits of £14.9m. The company has two divisions; BRC, the UK’s market leader in the supply of engineered steel products used in concrete construction; and Stadco, the UK’s largest supplier of specialist pressings and sub-assemblies to automotive OEMs. BRC operates across a number of sites in the UK and through a joint venture in Ireland. Stadco has sites in the Midlands, plus a large operation in Germany; it has recently entered into an exciting Joint Venture in Russia.

In late 2007 a significant accounting discrepancy was discovered in one of BRC’s operations. This has led to a downgrading of profits for 2007 and prior years and to the appointment of an Interim Group FD. The appointment of a high calibre permanent FD is key to future strategy and represents a significant opportunity. However, this is by no means a typical Plc appointment, as the Group faces some interesting strategic options which could lead to a variety of further opportunities and some very rewarding experience.

To be successful, the candidate will be a strong technical and commercially astute FD with considerable first hand experience of managing investor relations and banking relationships. You will have experience of raising finance and will have had significant exposure to M & A activity.

The business has a holding company structure with a number of units operating separate accounting systems and with the Group’s head office being located in Stratford upon Avon.
