Morrisons is unique amongst its major competitors, as it effectively owns a large part of its supply chain, with substantial food manufacturing, packing and distribution businesses within the Group. The manufacturing division has 13 sites operating in the main fresh food categories and the distribution business is one of the largest in the country.
Reporting to the Group Finance Director, as Head of Finance for this key strategic division you will take full responsibility for financial management and control, budgeting, forecasting, business planning and the capital appraisal processes. The role goes far beyond the numbers however as you will be expected to act as a true commercial partner to the Manufacturing Director and the Logistics Director. You will act as the key liaison point between field operations and the corporate centre and will play a key role in a major Group Programme, “Evolve”, which will see the installation of Oracle.
The successful candidate will be a senior, FD level, qualified accountant with strong general management skills and a track record of operational support in a multi-site manufacturing, distribution or retail business. You will be a team player, with strong commercial acumen, energy, drive and considerable self-reliance. The role is set against a backdrop of significant change requiring you to be both diplomatic and sensitive to others. Above all you will be a strong personality with excellent powers of persuasion and negotiation and sound commercial judgement.
